Integration
Weiss Robotics offers numerous solutions to help you integrating tactile sensing technology into your application.
Mechanical
To make the integration of our sensing systems into your application easy for you, we offer numerous standard components for mechanical intagration.
Mounting Kits
For universal application, we offer mounting kits with many mounting possibilities for our tactile sensors. In addition, we are able to adapt these to suit your needs in many areas. Also, the production of individual solutions based on your requirements is no problem for us!
Pre-Assembled Gripper Fingers
With our pre-assembled gripper fingers you can integrate our tactile transducers into your handling system instantly. The fingers are optimized for an individual gripper type and do contain the electrical installation to connect them directly to our range of sensor controllers.
Production of Customized Mounting Adapters
We would be glad to advise and support you when implementing your sensing project. The vertical range of services starts from advising and construction support up to the delivery of a completely assembled module. Call us today and benefit from our know-how in the field of mechatronics!
Electrical
For electrical connection of our tactile sensor systems, we offer complete solutions ranging from adapter kits to the complete integration of the sensor system by using especially developed OEM modules and providing the required engineering support to our customers.
Adapter Kits
You did realize the mechanical interface to the tactile transducers by yourself but you need an easy solution for the electrical connection? We offer you readily assembled adapter kits which can be used to connect the Tactile Transducers directly to our sensor controllers at an affordable price.
OEM Modules
For the complete integration of a tactile sensing system into your product, Weiss Robotics offers an OEM version of the sensor controller DSACON32. The DSACON32-M contains all necessary components to control the data acquisition and is software compatible to the DSACON32 family. Due to its compact construction, it can be plugged e. g. onto your customized control board. We would be glad to support you when designing your system - please contact us!
Software
We are offering two main ways to integrate tactile sensing into your application on the software side.
DSA Explorer
Our data capturing software DSA-Explorer processes, visualizes and exports sensor data of the connected sensor system. You don't need any detailed know-how about the communication with the sensor system. The following operating systems are supported: Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and Vista.
Exporting the captured pressure profiles off-line
Using the DSA Explorer, you can export single pressure profiles as well as whole sequences. This is suitable especially for a later analysis with third-party software. DSA Explorer supports the image file formats WMF and BMP, comma-seperated values (CSV) and the video file format AVI.
OPC Server
For standardized data exchange, the DSA Explorer comes with an integrated OPC server that makes it possible to provide tactile sensor data on-line as well as to command the capturing of sensor data. This solution is especially suitable to export data into environments like Matlab or Labview that already have integrated OPC clients to enable easy and convenient access to the OPC elements exported by the DSA Explorer. Code Examples for Matlab are available.
With the save and replay function of DSA Explorer you can use previously recorded pressure profiles when developing your algorithms, without the need to connect a sensor system to your PC.
UDP
The DSA-Explorer also offers the possibility to submit pressure profiles over a network using a UDP port. The receiving application can be located on the same computer or on a remote system that is connected e.g. via Ethernet.
This method is showing benefits if your analysing software is supposed to run on a different system than DSA Explorer, for example because you are running a different operating system. Compared to OPC, the implementation of a client interface in your application is possible without major efforts, as the pressure profile data is XML encoded.
For Matlab/Simulink we offer a library to include tactile sensor systems using this interface. With Matlab's Realtime Workshop it is possible to generate real-time capable code, making it possible to develop real-time controllers based on tactile sensor data.
Direct communication with the sensor system
If you are interested in maximum flexibility, you can command the sensor controller using one of its many interfaces directly from within your application. For this reason we made the communication protocol publicly available. This is the starting point for the development of your own routines to analyze sensor data.
By request you can get code examples that show the integration of the sensor system into customer-specific controllers. Beyond that, we can support you with your individual implementation and offer the complete integration into your system as a service.
