Customer-specific Tactile Sensor Systems

A major part of our sensor systems is being developed in tight cooperation with the customer. Shape, size and resolution of the transducer can be scaled in a large area to match the desired application.

taktile sensorsystemeBy request, we develop solutions to integrate the complete sensor system with your application. This includes the construction of mechanical carriers as well as adjustments in hardware and software. During this process, we are in close contact with our customers to create a solution customized to the desired application. In this way, it is possible to give you a complete system that perfectly fits to your requirements. Please contact us for your individual offer without obligation.

Human-Robot Cooperation

taktile sensorsystemeThe Institute for Process control and Robotics (IPR) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) does research in the field of human-robot cooperation. Within the special research field 588 "Humanoid Robots", a prototype of an anthropomorphic manipulator has been created. Its forearm has been equipped with a cylindrical Tactile Transducer by Weiss Robotics to selectively direct the arm's movements by touching it.

taktile sensorsystemeThe flexible tranducer has a resolution of 23 x 10 tactile sensor cells and a spatial resolution of about 16 mm at an overall size of 375 x 175 mm. It has been placed on a structural frame that also has been designed by Weiss Robotics. One requirement during the construction of the transducer was an especially compact design of the signal processing unit, as the inside of the cylinder has been reserved for the forearm joint of the manipulator including its engine.

Bumper for Mobile Service Robots

taktile sensorsystemeThe service robot "Hermes" of the Institut für Meßtechnik at the Bundeswehr University in Munich has been equipped with a bumper sensor for intelligent collision analysis. Around the driving platform, 12 sensor modules with a height of 300 mm were installed. Using them, the robot is capable to distinguish between different obstacles and to respond appropriately.

Digikuh – Acquisition of Massage Pressure Profiles of Milking Machines

taktile sensorsystemeCenter of the measurement device "Digikuh" is a Tactile Transducer formed like a dug, which captures the effective forces inside the milking cup of a milking machine in real-time. With this device, it is possible to detect whether the machine is working correctly or if there is any danger for the animals. The transducer consists of a cylindric and a conic part and has overall 64 sensor cells, of which 5 x 8 are placed on the cylinder and 3 x 8 on the conus.

taktile sensorsystemeThis way, the measurement is very precise, especially in the conus that corresponds to the sensitive glandular tissue of a real cow's dug.
