WRT 102

Tactile Sensor System for use with parallel grippers for safe handling of soft and breakable goods.

The Tactile Sensor System WRT 102 consists of the Sensor Controller DSACON32-H and two Tactile Transducers of type DSA 9205. In combination with the servo-electrical parallel gripper SCHUNK PG-70, this solution is perfectly suitable for reactive grasping in a variety of applications, for example to handle sensitive or elastic grasping parts.

Using Tactile Transducers on the inside of the gripper jaws, the contact pressure profile is recorded permanently in high spatial and temporal resolution during the act of grasping. The Tactile Sensor System is connected to the gripper via CAN Bus and can, based on the recorded pressure profiles, detect the first contact and control the grasping force onto the user-defined value.

The commands to control the gripper are generated by the Tactile Sensor System. No additional components are necessary. In contrast to conventional solutions, control is done considerating the overall contact pressure as well as local maximum pressures that are recognized and limited. This way, pressure sensitive parts can be handled safely.
